International film Cadillac Records opens in local theatres from May 29.

Produced by Grammy award-winning singer, Beyoncé Knowles, pictured, and Marc Levin, Cadillac Records will be screened in selected Ster Kinekor Cinemas.

The star-studded movie features Cedric the entertainer, Adrien Brody, Mos Def, Jeffrey Wright, Gabrielle Union, Columbus Short, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Eamonn Walker and Knowles.

The preview here took place in last month with stars such as Mos Def gracing the event.

Cadillac Records follows the exciting but turbulent lives of some of America's musical legends: Muddy Waters, Leonard Chess, Little Walter, Howlin Wolf, Etta James and Chuck Berry.

It looks at the lives and legends of America's most influential musical idiom.

This is an amazing story of how the blues became popular and gave birth to the black rock and roll that begins at a dingy bar on the rough South Side of Chicago in 1947.

The bar that exposed a lot of talent was owned by Chess, who hires a talented but undisciplined blues combo Waters and Walter.

Big Willie Dixon's character is played by Cedric the entertainer and Knowles portrays Etta James. James was discovered by Chess Records in 1950s.
