Family fears deadly arsonist

Moyahabo Mabeba

The surviving members of the Nukeri family in Homu 14C village in Giyani, Limpopo, whose eight relatives have been burnt to ashes, are afraid that the arsonist may come back to finish off the rest of the family.

Giyani police are still looking for Thomas Mathebula in connection with cases of arson, malicious damage to property and eight counts of murder.

The horrific incident happened on May 2.

Family spokesperson General Khubayi said since the assailant was still at large, anything bad could happen.

"We are unable to sleep at night because the man who killed the family is still at large.

We urge police to intensify their search to arrest this thug," said Khubayi.

Giyani police spokesperson Inspector Thomas Makhubela said they were confident they would arrest the fugitive soon because they believed he was still in the country.
