Malcolm Klassen was officially presented with his IBF junior lightweight belt yesterday.
He won it last month via a seventh-round stoppage of Cassius Baloyi.
The ceremony took place at the Rosebank Hotel where Klassen's sponsor, Neo Africa, rewarded him with a bonus of R20000 and a new Nissan Tiida.
"I am speechless," said Klassen, who always has a lot to say.
Trainer Gert Strydom, who guided him to victory, attended the function. Boxing SA interim chief executive Loyiso Mtya was also there.
The Neo Africa group of companies also used the occasion to announce that it had also signed Klassen's stablemates Silence Mabuza, Isaac Hlatswayo and Evans Mbamba.
These top name fighters are all under the tutelage of productive trainer Nick Durandt at his Bree Street, downtown Johannesburg-based establishment.
Their deal is for one year and is worth about R2 million.
Mabuza showed off his new fighting gear, which will be on display next Friday night when he fights Columbian Yohnny Perez for the IBF junior bantamweight number one spot at Springs Indoor Centre, Ekurhuleni.
This fight is dubbed "home coming" because it will be Mabuza's first professional fight in his home town.
Promoter Branco Milenkovic, who will stage the contest, said tickets were already available at Computicket outlets and Shoprite-Checkers stores countrywide at R100 and R50.
