Robbers placed a duvet over a sleeping 14-year-old boy while they emptied his parents' home at Flora Park in Polokwane.

Limpopo police said yesterday the teen was sleeping on a couch, and three other family members were asleep in their bedrooms, when an unknown number of people entered the house on Saturday night.

The robbers stole a plasma-screen TV, a laptop and a DVD player and covered the sleeping boy with the duvet beforefleeing.

No one was injured during the incident. A case of housebreaking and theft is being investigated.

Explaining why they covered the boy, Captain Mohlaka Mashiane said the thieves had stolen the items without disturbing the family, and it appeared they were not out to harm, but to steal.

l Also in Polokwane, 52 people were arrested for a range of crimes during a weekend operation.

Offences included public drinking, possession of suspected stolen property, prostitution, road traffic offences and assault.

All 52 are expected to appear in the Polokwane magistrate's court today. - Sapa.
