Angry members of the ANC Youth League in Bolobedu, outside Tzaneen, yesterday disrupted a public meeting at the Relela community hall.

The Desmond Mahasha branch, led by youth leader Louis Raphotle and other members of the ANCYL, started singing Umshini Wami to prevent speakers from addressing the meeting.

Entitled "Public Participation on the Integrated Development Plan and Budget 2009-10", the meeting was organised by the Mopani municipality to give communities an opportunity to make their input before the budget was adopted.

Raphotle said the budget did not contain any projects directed at their specific area for the coming financial year.

Mopani mayor Joshua Matlou warned the hecklers that their behaviour was counter-productive.

"This is a draft document that can still be amended if communities are not satisfied," he said.
