Umkhonto weSizwe veterans threaten to make the Western Cape ungovernable and to bring Premier Helen Zille to her knees.
As the war of words between Zille and the ANC's alliance partners continues, the Umkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association (MKVA) said its members are organised and ready to launch a military campaign against Zille's government.
The association's chairperson Kebby Maphatsoe said in a statement that Zille should stop "insulting" President Jacob Zuma.
"Should Helen Zille not refrain from this anti-African and racist behaviour, we are not going to hesitate, but craft and launch a political programme aimed at rendering the Western Cape ungovernable."
Maphatsoe also launched a vitriolic attack on Zille and described her as a "racist longing for the apartheid past".
Last night Zille's spokesman Frits de Klerk said the DA leader is "considering taking legal action against the ANC Youth League and the MKVA".
MKVA's deputy secretary Ramatuku Maphutha threatened that the association would organise soldiers in the province to stage a sit-in at Zille's office this week until she retracts her statement.
"They are always ready [the soldiers]. It's either she [Zille] vacates office, or co-operates," he said.
