Shaun Brian Murphy is a dancer who always makes sure that his performance is hot.

He has appeared in the international film, Race , toured Athens with the musical Jesus Christ Superstar and appeared in the South African production of Fiddler on the Roof .

We asked him how he keeps hot between the sheets and he revealed that he is not averse to using a hot water bottle to help keep him warm through the winter nights.

Woolworths manufactures a light brown, fluffy casing to cover its cream rubber bottle.

"It feels like a teddy bear," says Shaun. "You could definitely get a good cuddle with this one."

He liked the fuzzy protective covering that prevents the bottle from getting unbearably hot and he found that it didn't have the rubbery smell that some bottles have. All in all the verdict was that this hot water bottle is a good option to keep you warm from your baby years right up until old age.

The All Night Super Bottle is not meant to contain water. Instead tiny granules warmed up in the microwave stay warm for eight hours and more, claim the manufacturers.

Shaun liked the texture of the Super Bottle and found that it has a great homely, wheat fragrance that is emitted after heating. The packaging advises: Should you prefer an aromatic fragrance simply sprinkle a few drops of lavender essential oil onto the outer cover.

"The material is a little rougher than the Woolworths bottle, but this wouldn't bother me," he said. "It would be far easier to clean."

Shaun liked the baby blue colour of the bottle and thought that it would be great for kids. His verdict: "It's the perfect in-bed foot-warmer, but wouldn't be that great to hug."

Clicks produces two different hot water bottles. The O'My range offers a warm and cosy polar fleece comfort bottle that, the packaging claims, is insulated for longer heat retention and comfort.

"The camping version," he called it. "It's perfectly fine for its purposes," he said.

The other one is a cheaper hot water bottle without a cover. "Well, this is bright, fun and squishy. You can see that it belongs on the lower end of the price spectrum - batteries definitely not included."
