A gender advocacy group has laid a hate speech complaint against Julius Malema, president of the ANC Youth League, for suggesting that President Jacob Zuma's rape accuser had enjoyed having sex with him.

Mbuyiselo Botha, head of Sonke Gender Justice, has laid the complaint with the Equality Court, The Star newspaper reported yesterday.

He wants an apology from Malema, pictured, and an undertaking that he will refrain from making statements that "undermine women's dignity".

Botha said: "The majority of the population are women ... but we can't say there is true freedom in this country if women are still considered fair game." - Sapa
