Two Johannesburg Metro Police officers have been arrested for allegedly asking a motorist for a R60 bribe, a spokesperson said yesterday.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the two officers stopped a motorist for talking on his cellphone while he was driving in Nugget Street, Hillbrow, on Monday.

They asked him for his driver's license and a bribe.

The motorist did not have any money with him but agreed to go and get cash while the officers waited for him.

Before returning he recorded the numbers of the bank notes. He gave the officers the money then called the anti-corruption hotline to report the pair. They were arrested. - Sapa
