A 24-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering a Mondeor woman in 2007.

She was beaten with a brick and stabbed, Gauteng police said yesterday.

Inspector Lunga Mahonga said: "Her severely beaten, stabbed and bloody body was found by her son when he came from school. Only the two of them were living in the house at the time."

The man allegedly fled to Limpopo with the woman's vehicle, which was abandoned in Phalaborwa. He also allegedly stole valuables from the woman.

"Investigations eventually led police to the man, who was living in a house in Phalaborwa.
