New Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Jeff Radebe will need to move fast to mend the rift between the ANC and the country's judges.

That is the view of Unisa's constitutional law expert professor Shadrack Gutto.

Gutto says Radebe's second priority must be to restore the confidence in the National Prosecuting Authority, which falls under the justice ministry.

Radebe would also need to ensure that the Legal Aid Board is given enough money to provide lawyers to represent the poor in civil, and not only criminal, cases.
