Wits University closed their Absa Premiership season on a high note when they beat Moroka Swallows 2-0 at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Clever Boys led 1-0 at the break after Tefu Mashamaite opened the scoring for them in the 20th minute.

Swallows tried to equalise quickly but were denied any chance by a stubborn Wits rearguard.

Swallows coach Julio Cesar Leal - after starting the second round with a bang, securing wins over the big guns of Soweto, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs - failed to guide his team to a place in the Top Eight competition.

Not satisfied with their one-goal lead, Sifiso Myeni hammered the final nail in Swallows's coffin, scoring Wits's second and making sure that his team qualified for the lucrative Top Eight competition. - Sapa
