The Congress of South African Students, (Cosas) in KwaZulu-Natal has called for the immediate resignation of the principal of Umlazi's Makhumbuza High School in the wake of a sex scandal between teachers and pupils in exchange for money.

The five teachers implicated in the scandal have been suspended pending an internal investigation.

Five out of the 20 pupils have already opened cases against the five teachers, but Cosas wants to get rid of all those involved.

Cosas secretary Bhekisisa Shabane said they blamed the principal for ignoring such a crime happening right under his nose.

"One pupil was allegedly abused for two years, since Grade 10," he said.

KwaZulu-Natal Parents Association chairperson Fayed Rajack said if the principal knew but did not act then the association would support Cosas.
