Leave rich out of cabinet

So it should be strategic when deploying members to cabinet posts. Member comrades who have many companies, and who serve as board directors elsewhere, should not be in government because we cannot guarantee that they will care about a myriad of poor people who live in abject poverty.

We need comrades who will dedicate their time to uplifting the standard of living of the people and close the economic gap that at present prevails in our country.

Not long ago Brian Hlongwa apologised for bragging about his wealth. This was a bitter pill for us to swallow, not only as members of the ANC at branch level but the entire community we represent.

If we allow this propensity to recur we would be changing the ANC into George Bush's Republicans, in which only the rich are regarded as true members of the party.

We must also not create the impression that in order to be part of BEE one should be a cabinet minister.

It is not easy for wealthy people to leave their businesses and focus on public jobs that will pay them 10 times less.
