Ninety-two people were arrested for various crimes in Johannesburg, Gauteng police report.

Captain Bhekizizwe Mavundla said the arrests took place over a 24-hour period that began on Tuesday.

The arrests were made in Braamfontein, Killarney, Houghton, Berea, Joubert Park and Hillbrow, Mavundla said.

"The crimes included theft, hijacking, drug dealing, interfering with police investigations, assault and several street robberies."

The 92 will appear in court shortly, Mavundla said yesterday. - Sapa
