Special trains will operate in Gauteng during the Confederations Cup to make it easier for local and international soccer fans to access all the match venues.

Trains will operate on 12 identified corridors in the province with Ellis Park, Doornfontein, Loftus Versfeld and Rissik stations serving as key drop-off areas.

The stations will have additional staff members working until 2am on match days with law enforcement agencies deployed.

There will be a customer service team at all the stations to provide information to spectators on the games and trains.

Jeff Radebe, Minister of Transport and Local Organising Committee board member, said the passenger rail agency will provide alternating services from Johannesburg and Pretoria to Rustenburg and Bloemfontein on match days.

Radebe said they were happy with the overall transport infrastructure preparations for the Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup.
