The IFP rallied behind its president Mangosuthu Buthelezi , denying there was pressure from the party's youth that he "step down".

This comes amid speculation that some youth leaders wanted him to step down after the party's dismal election results.

It was claimed that certain sections of the IFP Youth Brigade called on Buthelezi to retire to make way for "fresh blood" to lead the party.

Yesterday IFP national organiser Albert Mncwango said Buthelezi would be sworn in today as a member of Parliament.
