In Sebokeng 633 people were arrested, police said. Their crimes included robbery, shoplifting, armed robbery, housebreaking and theft, rape, murder, assault, possession of dagga and stolen property and malicious damage to property.

Another 180 were arrested in Tembisa. Of these 77 were for crossing a railway line, 75 for drinking in public, eight for assault, four for possession of stolen property, three for robbery, three for rape and one for murder.

In Limpopo, there were 37 arrests in stop-and-search operations in the Polokwane CBD and neighbouring suburbs.
