About 70 lecturers at Tshwane North College in Pretoria (Soshanguve campus) have refused to give lessons until they receive their outstanding overtime payments.

The lecturers say the disputed money is for afternoon lessons, and that they have been receiving the money at the end of each semester until things changed in February.

One of the lecturers, Godfrey Phukubje, said management told them in February that the money would no longer be paid after each semester but monthly.

"But we were surprised when we did not receive the money at the end of March. We were told that the college had no money to pay us."

Phukubje said they had a meeting with management yesterday, and it was agreed that they should go back to work because their overtime would be paid tomorrow.

Campus manager Droida Maja could not be reached for comment yesterday.
