The Sediba Advanced International Financing Programme for Producers 2009 will go a long way towards addressing the critical shortage of competent producers in South Africa.

The programme will take place over three sessions. The first session took place on Tuesday.

The last session will take place on Tuesday, August 18.

At the end of this programme, two top achievers will be selected to attend the London Film Production Finance Market in October 2009.

They will have an opportunity to pitch their projects to potential international financiers, sales agents and distributors.

In addition, the course leaders have promised to structure a mentorship programme to two South African producers so that skills transfer occurs.

The programme was developed specifically for South African producers and is aimed at providing potential producers with focused training on international financing, packaging and distribution.

It comes after the successful National Film and Video Foundation's (NFVF), Sediba Scriptwriting Training and Development Programme.

The NFVF has provided funding to local producers over the past nine years for feature films, shorts stories and documentaries.
