amazulu, stars TO INVADE Ulundi
Ulundi, in the heart of the impoverished Zululand district on the rural outskirts of KwaZulu-Natal, is eagerly awaiting their first PSL match on Sunday.
The match will be between high-riding AmaZulu and unpredictable Free State Stars at Ulundi Regional Stadium.
Ulundi is AmaZulu's second home ground .
Street vendors, small businesspeople and those who want to venture into business can't wait for Sunday.
Street vendor Nomasonto Zungu of Mashona, who sells meat and pap to taxi drivers and passengers at the Ulundi taxi rank, said she had already doubled her stock for the "big" day.
"I have made the necessary preparations," she said. "My fridge is full.
"I am certain I will make a lot of money. I can't wait for the day.
"Actually I wish the game were tomorrow."
Another street vendor, Siziwe Mbatha of Sondela, who sells fruits at the same rank, said she would make a "hell lot of money" on Sunday.
"Come rain or sun, I will be stinking rich on Sunday," she said. "I will be the first to arrive and last to leave."
Taxi driver Sihle Buthelezi said they would work until dawn to ferry supporters back to their homes.
"We want to make sure that this is not the last big match to be played in Ulundi by providing supporters with excellent transport service," he said.
AmaZulu last year signed an agreement with the Zululand district municipality to use Ulundi Regional Stadium as their second home ground.
In July last year Usuthu featured in two friendly games against local opposition, Island FC from Nongoma and Ulundi Stars, and they won both encounters.
Organisers of this PSL match are appealing to supporters to buy their tickets early to avoid disappointment at the stadium.
AmaZulu spokesperson Philani Mabaso said: "The sale of tickets has opened at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers."
AmaZulu, who are having their best season under coach Clive Barker, are currently placed fourth on the PSL log of 16 teams.
With thousands of supporters behind them, they are likely to emerge easy winners in Sunday's encounter against Steve Khompela's side.
