MTHEMBU DEFAULTS ON CAR

Self-proclaimed tycoon Mandla Mthembu has skipped two payments on one of his two Lamborghinis.

According to records at Absa Bank, Mthembu has to fork out a whopping R110811,77 by Friday or lose the vehicle.

When he took delivery of the two yellow sports cars last year, Mthembu and his TV actress wife Khanyi Mbau made their first stop at Sunday World offices to pose for pictures.

Determined to grab maximum publicity, the couple proceeded to City Press and Sunday Times offices for more pictures.

But it was not long before Mthembu started defaulting on the R36690 monthly instalment on one of the cars.

Last August Sowetanrevealed that officials from Absa's tracing department visited several of Mthembu's previous addresses to try to get hold of the R4million car. This was after he defaulted twice.

After failing to stop the story from being published, Mthembu had to settle the outstanding R76000.

This time around, the bank has handed Mthembu's account to its pre-legal department for the recovery of the outstanding instalments.

When contacted Mthembu said: "I can see you are after me. As far as I am concerned my account is up to date."

This comes a week after Sowetan reported that he has not paid maintenance - which is R4000 a month - for his two children and former wife, Dolly Matshabe, for the past three months.
