Moloketi back on Fifa World Cup board

Former deputy finance minister Jabu Moleketi has been reappointed to the Fifa World Cup board of directors, the local organising committee said yesterday.

Former deputy finance minister Jabu Moleketi has been reappointed to the Fifa World Cup board of directors, the local organising committee said yesterday.

"The board decided, after consultation with the government, to retain the skills and expertise of Moleketi as a member of the board," the LOC said.

This reappointment comes after Moleketi lost his position on the board in the wake of his resignation from his government post in September last year.

Moleketi tendered his resignation after Thabo Mbeki was ousted as president.

Organising committee chief executive Danny Jordan said Moleketi attended his first board meeting since September yesterday.

Meanwhile, board member and Transport Minister Jeff Radebe also said the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system was on track for the upcoming Confederation Cup.

He said taxi operators would suffer no loss of profit or jobs. He said after Jacob Zuma's inauguration as president and the new government came into power, the full extent of how taxi operators would be incorporated into the companies that would operate the BRT system would be finalised. - Sapa
