The party noted reports of the incident at the Absa Stadium in Durban on Monday when some members of the crowd broke into song because they could not hear Motlanthe.
"While some reports highlighted the cause of the brief interruption, which was a poor sound system, others failed to do so, creating an impression that the audience did not approve of Motlanthe's address," said spokesperson Jessie Duarte in a statement.
She said the ANC had zero tolerance for ill-discipline within its ranks.
Motlanthe's speech was disrupted when people sang loudly, forcing him to stop speaking while ANC provincial chairperson Zweli Mkhize persuaded the crowd to keep quiet. - Sapa
