While some might rest on their laurels, trailblazing woman footballer Noko Matlou would not allow her R100000 windfall to distract her from going after her dreams.

The African Woman Footballer of the Year was awarded the money by Safa at a gala dinner on Friday as a token of their appreciation to the first South African to ever win the continental award.

Matlou yesterday revealed that while she was over the moon about her acknowledgement, she was still concerned about her future move to Iceland team FC Fjuren.

Apparently, this move is in jeopardy because the coach has been fired.

Her agent is reportedly considering other offers from clubs in the United States, where three of her Banyana Banyana team mates, Dineo Mmutle, Veronica Phewa and Lenah Mosebo are already based.

"Right now, I want to concentrate on celebrating what Safa has done for me. My mother was crying tears of joy. Having this money will allow me to realise my long-held dream of building our family a decent house," she said.
