ANC Youth League president Julius Malema described the voting yesterday as closing a chapter of eight years of suffering.

He was referring to the years that ANC president Jacob Zuma has had charges of corruption hanging over him.

Malema voted at Mponegele Primary School, a stone's throw from his home in Seshego township ne in Limpopo. He was accompanied by his grandmother Sarah Malema, who also cast her vote.

ANC provincial chairperson Cassel Mathale voted at the NkowaNkowa community hall outside Tzaneen, while Cope premiership candidate and former premier Sello Moloto cast their votes at the Bakenburg traditional authority offices.
