"Mr Constantin's resignation was received by the (Romanian football) federation (FRF) via fax," former Romania international and current CCA director general Dan Petrescu told Mediafax news agency.
CCA vice-president Marcel Lica has also been suspended, with all duties being transferred to his fellow vice-president Nicolae Grigorescu.
Grigorescu's first announcement was that a proposal will be put to the executive committee suggesting that referees be assigned to matches via a draw, rather than by the president and the CCA.
Constantin and the owner of FC Arges, Cornel Penescu, were arrested on Tuesday for alleged corruption. It is alleged Penescu payed Constantin 70,000 euros (R816200) to assign referees to his club's matches this season. - Sapa-AFP
