Entente Setif of Algeria maintained hot home form in the African Confederation Cup by hammering Recreativo Libolo of Angola 4-0 this weekend.

The 'Black Eagles' scored twice in each half of a third round, first leg clash with Nabil Hemani, Lamouri Djediat and Abdelmalek Ziaya on target and Manuel Machado conceding an own goal for the visitors.

Former African champions Setif trounced Khaleej Sirt of Libya 5-0 at the same venue in the previous round and could prove a major threat to title holders CS Sfaxien of Tunisia.

Luanda-based Libolo are appearing in Africa for the first time this year and after scoring six goals when winning home and away against modest Ivory Coast outfit SO Armee, discovered that Entente were a different class.

Sfaxien continued their challenge for a record third consecutive title yesterday when they host another Ivorian club, Jeunesse Club Adibjan Treichville, in the Mediterranean city of Sfax.

The Confederation Cup replaced the Cup Winners Cup and CAF Cup in 2004 and caters for national cup winners, select third-placed league teams and the eights clubs eliminated after the final African Champions League qualifiers. - Sapa-AFP
