Deejay Cleo, who has a number of hit songs under his belt, is the latest celebrity musician to appear in a television soapie.

Born Cleopas Monyepao, the talented disc juggler has joined the fast-growing soapie Rhythm City.

Monyepao plays the role of a young producer who works as a freelancer for Zondi Entertainment Enterprise.

In the show, Monyepao will be producing singer Sunday played by musician Kelly Khumalo.

Though his role is not that huge, it is interesting enough to keep viewers glued to their television sets.

In the story, Monyepao will also develop a crush on Tshidi Khuse, who is trying to establish herself as an artist.

Monyepao is one of the youngest but yet successful musicians in this country. He started out as a producer of Unrestricted Breakfast Show hosted by DJ Fresh on YFM.

He then established his own recording label - Will of Steel. The first musician he produced was Pitch Black Afro.

Dubbed the hit-maker of South African music, Monyepao is one of the few people who understands local house music very well.

He has recorded six albums and produced successful musicians such as Brickz and Bleksem.

Monyepao has produced hits for musicians such as Pitch Black Afro, Mzekezeke, Brown Dash, Mandoza, Kabelo and Skwatta Kamp, as well as having done some work on the award-winning Tsotsi soundtrack.
