Kwazulu-Natal Police Commissioner Hamilton Ngidi yesterday issued a stern warning to SAPS police officers that corruption would not be tolerated.
He said SAPS will not "compromise our standards in this regard".
Ngidi also urged community to come forward and report corrupt officials.
Ngidi was reacting after concerns were voiced that the two officers slain in Inanda at the weekend were involved in corrupt activities. The officers were shot outside an illegal tavern.
Nine suspects were arrested and four killed when police shot them dead.
But the community say they "do not trust" the police and the officers were allegedly on the take from those breaking the law.
