Jackson cancels memorabilia sale

A Los Angeles auction house has reportedly been forced to call off its upcoming Michael Jackson estate sale just hours after opening viewing to the public.

A Los Angeles auction house has reportedly been forced to call off its upcoming Michael Jackson estate sale just hours after opening viewing to the public.

Julien's Auctions staff spent months clearing out more than 1000 items from Jackson's former Neverland Estate in California, and chief executive Darren Julien had planned to sell everything on April 22.

But, less than a day after his viewing gallery was opened to the public, Julien has called off the sale.

Julien's attorney refused to comment, saying "everyone is happy".

A Rolls Royce limousine, the gates of the ranch, bumper cars, a tour bus and Jackson's stage gear, including his diamond-studded glove, were among items to be auctioned.

Jackson's lawyers claimed certain items, including a carousel horse with an inscription from Elizabeth Taylor, are irreplaceable and that the singer had not signed the auction contract.

Auction house executive director Martin Nolan said the collection would be returned to Jackson and MJJ Productions. - Wenn
