WITS AIM FOR TOP 8 PLACING
Bidvest Wits are hoping to consolidate their spot in the top eight bracket by beating reigning champions SuperSport United tonight.
The Clever Boys are also eager to use their home advantage to overcome Matsatsantsa a Pitori at Milpark Stadium at 8pm.
Speaking to Sowetan yesterday, Wits' manager George "Soekkies" Mogotsi said a win over Gavin Hunt's side would improve their current sixth position on the log.
"As much as we respect the on-form United, we will not allow them to do as they please on our own turf.
"Yes, they boast some of the best players in the league, but we have equally good and dedicated players who are capable of sending them back home empty handed," said Mogotsi.
The hosts' forward, Calvin Kadi, said it would be great opportunity to play against his former teammates at United.
"This is going to be a tricky encounter, taking into consideration that United are presently on top of their game.
"But I hope to give my best and at least get a goal," said Kadi.
Their reliable striker, Tebogo Langerman, will miss the tie as he is still recuperating from a hamstring injury.
On the other hand, the return of their captain Sibusiso Mahlangu will strengthen the team.
United striker Anthony Laffor said playing Wits in their own backyard would be difficult.
"We will have to get it all at Milpark if we harbour hopes of securing the three points.
"It is very difficult for us because every team wants to beat us as we are on top of the log.
"But, we are going to tread carefully in our remaining for matches," said the Liberian forward.
Wits' defence of Justin Miller, Ashraf Hendricks and Neil Winstanley will need to be at its best to contain the likes of Laffor and Elias Pelembe.
