Gang rape trial delayed

Dudu Busani

The trial of seven men accused of gang raping a Tembisa woman was yesterday delayed yet again.

Members of People Opposing Women Abuse (Powa) gathered outside the South Gauteng high court hoping that the trial would finally begin after four years.

However, the trial had to be postponed because a defence counsel advocate is allegedly related to one of the accused.

Sello Mohlala, Thabiso Thukwane, Oupa Mohlala, Moeketsi Mphuthi, Bongani Nhlapho, Kabelo Mwale and Mojalefa Seleka allegedly gang raped the woman in October 2005.

"We hope the trial starts on Monday," said Powa's Carrie Shelver.
