Alaska FC of Vosloorus produced a top class performance to lift the Voscoc Diski Nine Nine tournament title with an emphatic 4-2 triumph over New Jack City in Vosloorus on Monday.

A minute of silence was observed before the start of the game in memory of Phillip "Nanana'' Jiyane, former player of the now defunct Boksburg United and Witbank Black Aces.

The soccer legend died two weeks ago after a long illness and was buried at Rondebult cemetery in Elspark on Monday.

The four-day tournament was a great success and well attended throughout, and moreover no hiccups were reported.

Freddie Mkhwanazi, tournament coordinator, said: "We appreciate the assistance from Mvelaphanda Construction and the Ekurhuleni department of sports, recreation, arts and culture for their contribution in the development of football at grassroots level."

The final lived up to expectations as both teams dished out scintillating football.

Man of the match was the evergreen Alaska striker, Peter Baloyi, who scored a hat trick.
