The legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo has teamed up with playwright Mbongeni Ngema and leading artist Busi Mhlongo to form a new record company, KZN Music House.

They intend to register no fewer than 100 artists and release as many songs by the end of next year.

Speaking at the end of the first leg of his musical The Lion of the East in eMalahleni, Mpumalanga, Ngema said at the weekend: "It's a dream come true. Believe me, this will challenge the big players such as Gallo."

Black Mambazo lead singer Joseph Tshabalala was equally ecstatic.

"I have worked with Ngema for 25 years. We are Grammy award winners, thanks to him."

The KZN Music House initiative is supported by the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government.

According to Ngema, the US-based Quincy Jones and Kenneth Gamble will work with artists in the new stable. - Motswako News Agency
