The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry said yesterday that its business confidence index fell to a seven-year low of 78,9 points in March from 84,5 in February, knocked by deep concern about local and global economic growth. The chamber said lower trade had severely affected confidence and that the trend of depressed economic growth was likely to continue with a second consecutive quarter of contraction in the first quarter of this year.- Reuters
