The African People Convention is an infant socialist party that says it seeks to replace the "so-called leftist parties that are ineffective".
The fledgling party is hoping for 10percent of the votes in theelections.
Speaking at a press briefing yesterday, former PAC deputy president Themba Godi, now president of APC, said: "We want a democracy that will work for its people.
"We have engaged with traditional and church leaders, traditional healers, the rural poor and taxi associations.
"At the core of the grievances is a sense of marginalisation, lack of transparency and accountability, corruption, inefficiency and neglect."
Godi said he is not interested in the political mudslinging and preferred to stick to "issues, politics and how best we intend to serve our people".
He formed the APC during the floor-crossing period in September 2007.
He said he is satisfied with the decision of the National Prosecuting Authority to drop charges against ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma.
He added that manipulation of state institutions does not always come from the ruling party.
He explained that, as chairperson of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, he experienced cohesion and attempted influence from the DA .
He said his party has so far spent R10million on its election campaign. He said the funds were from the members.
