Four mentally unstable people have gone missing at the International Pentecostal Holiness Church in Zuurbekom, west of Johannesburg, during prayer sessions in January and February.
Family members say they are baffled by the mysterious disappearances. But the church says it is not aware of the disappearances.
The church's spokesperson, Oupa Mosalakae, said: "We are not aware that there are missing people. The families should come forward and we will try and help them trace their loved ones. We have helped many families find their loved ones who got lost here."
After frantic searches, family members now fear they may be dead.
The church, better known as Modise, is led by Glaton Modise.
On January 10, Jokonia "Joki" Dhlamini, 56, disappeared during a three-day long monthly faith healing service. Three weeks later, Muneri Ramphoso, 53, from Lenasia Hospital Hill, south of Johannesburg, also went missing during the faith healing service.
A week later, Thikholwi Tseisi, 34, and LillyMgadule also vanished.
The cases are being investigated by Westonaria detectives. Police spokesperson Inspector Sanku Tsunke said: "The search continues. We have been to several hospitals and mortuaries but they are not there."
