Gavin Hunt was flummoxed after SuperSport United were sent packing from the African Champions League by Kampala City Council on Saturday night, but he had a reason to smile less than 24 hours later.
The reason: Orlando Pirates, United's close rivals for the Absa Premiership title, dropped two points on Sunday.
The Bucs played to a 1-all draw against Bloemfontein Celtic, a team mired in the quagmire.
The stalemate prevented Pirates from reducing the gap between them and log leaders United to three points.
Kaizer Chiefs' 0-0 draw against Free State Stars in Rustenburg on Saturday was also a cause for celebration for Hunt.
Amakhosi went into that match with an outside chance of wresting the title from United, but they will now succeed only if Matstatsantsa flounder in their remaining matches. This is highly unlikely, though.
Chiefs also do not look like they are well-placed to win their remaining five matches.
United will be hoping to maintain their comfortable lead in the standings at the expense of the inconsistent Moroka Swallows at the University of Pretoria Stadium tomorrow night.
Though Hunt's main concern from what transpired on Saturday was probably his team's inability to wrap up the match against the Ugandan champions, they have proved a different prospect in the league.
Legato Chabangu returns for United. He could not play on Saturday because he was not registered for the tournament.
Mulondo Sikhwivhilu is spirited after scoring against City Council.
Their defenders should be wary, though, because the Birds are taking their "AK-47" along to Tshwane in the form of deadly forward Sandile Ndlovu.
He scored a brace in their 3-1 drubbing of Thanda Royal Zulu on Sunday.
Tomorrow's match kicks off at 7.30pm and forms part of a full midweek Premiership programme.
Though on paper Chiefs look set to rebound at troubled Bay United, Amakhosi have lost the grit and they are not the best team to bet your last cent to prevail at EPRU Stadium in another 7.30pm kickoff.
