Gospel singer, producer and television presenter Keke Phofoolo has proved that he is no average musician.

Though his career took off very slowly, once he found his niche, the man born in Pimville, Soweto, started riding the crest of the wave.

Every album he releases these days turns into platinum or gold. His latest album, Living Testimony released last year, has proved that Phofoolo is a force to be reckoned with. Both the CD and live DVD have achieved double platinum for each selling over 100000 copies.

His previous album, Revival, which was very popular, also sold well .

Phofoolo presents a gospel show on e.tv called Spirit of Praise on Sundays and another on One Gospel Channel on Dstv called In His Presence.

Having started his career with various groups, he is today without any doubt, one of the top selling gospel singers in South Africa.

Though he had his mind set on earning a living as a soldier, Phofoolo said he changed his mind when he joined Zoë Gospel Singers as a backing vocalist.

He left the group to try his luck with a kwaito group Kom-Kom. After realising that things were not working out, he decided to join the late reggae star Lucky Dube, with whom he toured the world.

He had a short stint with award-winning gospel group, Joyous Celebration and also worked with Bheki Mseleku and Umoja.

l Catch Phofoolo live at the Grace Bible Church in Pimville, Soweto, tomorrow and in Kagiso Hall 2 in Kagiso from April 10 to 12.
