Fight fans have constantly called this newspaper to convey their requests to Boxing SA for more local shootouts.

This stems from the recent high quality, competitive and cleanly fought clash between Takalani "The Panther" Ndlovu and Oscar "Golden Boy" Chauke.

The showdown incited a great deal of excitement. Ndlovu, trained by Nick Durandt, won on points though Manny Fernandez is still convinced his charge, Chauke, was robbed.

Last Wednesday night, Bully "Bulldozer" Muravha challenged national heavyweight champion Osborne "Big Daddy" Machimana to a showdown.

Potential thrillers are also on the cards when Thomas "Tommy Gun" Oosthuizen meets Jared "The Storm" Lovett, and Philip "Time Bomb" Ndou fights Kaizer Mabuza.

Golden Gloves will stage those bouts as well as a blowout between Jan "Kid Gavilan" Bergman and Bongani "Cyclones" Mwelase in a blockbuster on June 13 at the Centre Court at Emperors Palace.

The winner between Bergman and Mwelase will earn the right to challenge national junior middleweight champion Vincent "The Rock" Vuma.

Bergman is rated first while Mwelase occupies the second spot.
