Nine-year-old Ntokozo Ngomane stunned gospel icon Rebecca Malope when she joined her on stage on Saturday and sang along her lyrics with a sweet voice that sounded similar to that of the artist.

Ntokozo was backstage when she begged security guards to allow her to go on stage and sing with Malope during Ligwalagwala FM's 27th birthday festival in Nkomazi.

"This girl is very talented. She is still young and must first deal with her schooling before anything else, singing included. She is a future star," said Malope.

She conceded that the girl's voice and dance moves were almost similar to hers. She was very amused.

The Grade 4 pupil from KaMhlushwa Trust told Sowetan that she liked Malope so much she always watched and sang along with her when the singer was on television.

Ntokozo was not fazed by singing in front of the huge crowd - estimated at about 30000 - who filled the local stadium.

Station manager Rio Mabunda was impressed by the girl and praised the crowd for their good behaviour.

"I thank all the people for their loyal support and the way they handled themselves during the station's festival. There were well over 30000 people in and around the stadium by noon," said Mabunda.

The artists who performed included Sipho Makhabane, Donny, Tshepiso Motaung, Kholeka, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Thembinkosi, Mvhuselelwa, as well as Mduduzi and Frans Dlamini from Swaziland.

Inspector Mzwandile Nyambi confirmed that no incidents were reported during the festival.

"We have no reports of any serious incidents," he said.
