Never on time

South Africans never learn. The long queues for gun licence renewal this week are just part of a shameful national pattern. Despite many months to renew their licences, our compatriots chose to wait until the last possible minute before they would do the sensible thing.

South Africans never learn. The long queues for gun licence renewal this week are just part of a shameful national pattern. Despite many months to renew their licences, our compatriots chose to wait until the last possible minute before they would do the sensible thing.

Earlier in the week, football fans arrived at the Royal Bafokeng stadium well after the match had started, as if the kick-off time had been shifted forward.

You can rest assured that we will again go to the taxman on the last day just like Johannesburg drivers waited until the very last minute to take advantage of the 50 percent off on their traffic fines.

And all this in a country where we burn trains that arrive late.
