A Nigerian man, 35, was arrested on Wednesday at the Glen shopping centre, south of Johannesburg, for armed robbery.

A Nigerian man, 35, was arrested on Wednesday at the Glen shopping centre, south of Johannesburg, for armed robbery.

The arrest came after staff at the FNB branch told police that a customer had informed them he was being held hostage by two men.

Investigations revealed that the two men robbed him after he withdrew money from an Absa ATM in Fordsburg on Tuesday.

The two men then threatened him with knives and forced him into their car. He was then taken to an FNB ATM where he was forced to withdraw money. He managed to inform staff about his ordeal and police were summoned. One of the two men escaped. - Sapa
