Economically disadvantaged people of the Mother City will not be overlooked by the Cape Town International Jazz Festival.

Music lovers will once again be treated to a free concert at the city's Green Market Square on Wednesday, April 8.

As a tradition for the Capetonians, this year will be no different as artist after artist gives fans a taste of the main concert, which will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on Friday, April 10 and the next day.

The free concert offers a great evening of jazz and jazz fusions for those fans who may not be able to attend the festival as well as those who do have tickets, but don' t want to miss the "warm-up".

Starting at 5pm on Friday, the main festival encourages city workers to stay on after work to avoid the heavy traffic.

Music lovers will again experience the vibe of the festival at the Square with its many pubs, restaurants and hotels as well as some great jazz echoing off the surrounding historic buildings.

Set to fan the music ablaze are The Incredibles, Nomfusi, Claire Phillips, Pete Philly and Perquisite and The Stylistics.

The festival promises to be a diverse, exciting and entertaining bill. Each artist will strut his stuff for about 30 minutes.

The festival is expected to end at 10 pm on Saturday.

Music lovers from outside Cape Town who want to avoid driving or flying can catch a Metrorail train to Cape Town today.

On the return journey, there will be three trains leaving Cape Town Station at 10.30pm on Saturday.

If you buy one train ticket to Cape Town you will get a return ticket free. Concert goers can buy their train tickets to Cape Town at any station. So run along and get yours now.
