Rabelani Mahafha's letter in Sowetan on March 30 claims the DA is confused about its role, but his argument reveals just how confused he is about the role of opposition in a democracy.

The DA is fully focused on its constitutional responsibility , which means holding the government to account and protecting the Constitution . This includes exposing government failures such as burst sewage pipes, poor maintenance of local infrastructure and abuse of state resources.

We already govern the City of Cape Town and many municipalities . Evidence shows that life is better where the DA governs.
