Amajita's assistant coach Maqsood "Macky" Chenia said the Safa Metropolitan national under-19 championship that is currently taking place in Durban will assist them to get players for their squad.

Chenia hinted that 25 percent of the national under-20 team that participated in the recent African Youth Championships in Rwanda will not qualify for the World Youth Championships in Egypt scheduled for September.

"Our aim is to get both the left and right backs, considering that we were forced to shift Phumelele "Ace" Bhengu from striking force to the right back, while we were also exposed at the left back during our semi-final match against Ghana.

"We also need a central defender to ensure that we move Daylon Classen from that position to an attacking role. Classen is playing well as an attacking midfielder at Ajax Amsterdam hence we want to shift him to that position," Chenia said yesterday.

"I have already identified five players who I will monitor their progress throughout the tournament, and if they keep their standard they will be roped into the team," said Chenia.

Although Chenia refused to disclose the names of those players, Sowetan had it on good authority that four of those players are Mpumalanga's trio of Sakhile Sindane, Mzwandile Gomomo and Mduduzi Nhlapo, including KwaZulu-Natal's Tshepo Liphuko.
