Boks warm up for Lions

SA Rugby has reached an agreement with the Namibian Rugby Union for an SA training squad XV to play a Namibian Invitational XV in Windhoek on Friday.

SA Rugby has reached an agreement with the Namibian Rugby Union for an SA training squad XV to play a Namibian Invitational XV in Windhoek on Friday.

But the team will not play as the Springboks, as has been reported in the Namibian media.

"Namibia has agreed to arrange a warm-up match in advance of the British and Irish Lions tour in June and July," said SA Rugby acting managing director, Andy Marinos.

"As there is the possibility that we may have players involved in the Vodacom Super 14 final on May 30, the SA Training XV will feature players in the current core group of players who are available, and possibly a few newcomers who have performed consistently well during the Vodacom Super 14."

Springbok coach Peter de Villiers confirmed that it will be a practice match. - Sapa
