That war had nothing to do with South Africa. It was about a group of people in Europe who had unfinished business and who decided to come here and settle old scores. The war was like a group of people coming to someone's house to fight for it and in the process banishing the owner to a corner of the house . That is exactly what happened to black people and the first citizens, the Khoi and San people.
According to the records, black people also fought on both sides of the war. And have they been honoured in any way? I don't think so. Do we even know who they were? I don't think so? So what obliges the new government to honour hooligans who fought over something that did not belong to them in the first place?
The war was motivated by greed, selfishness, racism and anti-social behaviour.
In any event, we have honoured Afrikaner heroes. We are forever thankful to the role played by the likes of Bram Fischer, Carl Niehaus, Derek Hanekom and others. I am terribly sorry if these people are not regarded as heroes by Afrikaners because they certainly are by the rest of the population.
