His official website said yesterday he would "resume his official duties on April 1", although he would hold meetings with government colleagues and "begin supervising the implementation of government programmes this week".
The former opposition leader returned to Zimbabwe on Tuesday from about 10 days spent in South Africa, on retreat with his six children as they grieved for his wife Susan, who died when the vehicle she and the prime minister were travelling in was side-swiped by a passing truck.
"He's looking well and looking strong, and sounding strong," said an aide.
Tsvangirai is expected to confront President Robert Mugabe, his partner in the 39-day-old coalition government, over the issue of lawlessness - and violence against the country's shrunken community of white commercial farmers, under attack from top officials of Mugabe's Zanu-PF party trying to wrest their farms from them.
Observers say that the failure of the authorities to control the administrative and social chaos has become one of the major obstacles in the new government's ability to secure Western aid to reconstruct the broken economy. - Sapa-DPA
